fenrisians-sweatshop So I was a very young boy when these incidents happened, but I do remember them very clearly and perhaps my fascination with the occult (not so great when your family is catholic) began. This album just instantly bought me back 40 odd years or so. And I’m a small boy, wide eyed in morbidly fascinated horror as my parents yammer on about demons and satan worshippers. I can’t pick a stand out yet but suffice to say, since I discovered The Night Monitor each of the albums I have (4) are awesome.

Michael J Bates Having been to Clapham, in the mid 80's with friends, because of the 'Unexplained' article I had to buy this.
There was a pit in the middle of the woods, a creepy vicar and a very sinister feel to the place.
I might go back there soon to see how it's changed. Favorite track: Hecate, Goddess of the Underworld.

'Their Dark Dominion' charts the haunted history of Clapham Wood in Sussex, a paranormal hotspot linked with tales of UFO sightings, mysterious disappearances, unexplained deaths, and dark worship.

In 1978, local investigator Charles Walker was contacted by a black magic initiate who claimed that the woods were being used for dark rituals and animal sacrifice by The Friends of Hecate - a secretive occult group whose number were said to include those at the highest levels in society.

“We will stop at nothing to ensure the safety of our cult!”

The soundtrack to an imaginary documentary or TV series circa 1987 - the year in which the area’s ‘demonic connection’ was severed by the great October storm - ‘Their Dark Dominion’ conjures digital synthscapes and swirling gothic guitar to invoke an ethereal atmosphere of supernatural menace.
